Gymnast of the Week: Skye Kerico (Penn)
Skye Kerico of Penn has been named the GEC Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season following her impressive performance at the Ivy Classic, where she captured the all-around title with a score of 39.275—the third-highest in program history and the second-highest ever at the Ivy Classic. Kerico also won the uneven bars with a 9.875, leading all GEC gymnasts this week, and secured second place on vault with a 9.825. Her exceptional efforts helped Penn achieve its highest team score of the season (195.375) and claim its 15th Ivy Classic title in program history. Notably, Kerico became the first Quaker since 2012 to win multiple individual events at the Ivy Classic and the first to repeat as all-around champion since 2012. She earned four All-Ivy Classic honors (three First Team and one Second Team), highlighting her standout performance.
Specialist of the Week: Nova Stark (Bridgeport)
Nova Staruk of the University of Bridgeport has been named the GEC Specialist of the Week after delivering outstanding performances in two meets. On Monday against LIU, Staruk debuted her upgraded Kas layout full vault with a 10.0 start value for the first time this season, scoring an impressive 9.8 to secure first place. She repeated the vault on Sunday at Ursinus, earning a season-high 9.825 and another first-place finish. Additionally, Staruk made her season debut in the floor lineup on Sunday, delivering a beautiful routine that contributed to the Purple Knights’ floor total, scoring a solid 9.7 (tied for 4th). Her impressive vaults and successful floor debut showcased her skill and growth this week.
Newcomer of the Week: Avery Walters (Brown)
Avery Walters of Brown University has been named the GEC Newcomer of the Week after an excellent performance at the Ivy Classic, where she captured All-Ivy honors on all three of her events with three new career-highs. Walters tied for second overall on beam with an impressive 9.875, contributing to Brown's new program record on the event (49.175). She also earned a 9.750 on bars (tied for 4th) and a 9.850 on floor (tied for 4th), helping the Bears achieve the No. 6 team score in program history (194.800) and finish as the runner-up at the Ivy Classic.
