Penn Takes Another GEC Preseason Poll

WEST CHESTER, PENNSYLVANIA (Dec. 11, 2023) — The Gymnastics East Conference announced the results of the 2024 preseason poll on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 in anticipation of the 2024 season beginning January 5th. For the third year in a row, the University of Pennsylvania Quakers have claimed the top spot in the poll, securing seven out of eight possible first place votes for a total of 63 points. Going into the 2024 season with a 2023 NQS of 195.020, the two-time reigning GEC Champions look for a repeat performance in 2024. Behind Penn, Brown takes second in the poll with 46 points. Yale comes in third with 44 points, capturing the remaining first place vote.


The preseason poll is based on ranking projections given by the head coaches of the eight GEC schools. 


The 2024 preseason rankings are as follows:


1. Penn (63 points, 7 first place votes)

2. Brown (46 points)

3. Yale (44 points, 1 first place vote)

4. West Chester (40 points)

5. Cornell (37 points)

6. Southern Connecticut (21 points)

7. Bridgeport (20 points)

8. William & Mary (17 points)


Penn will host the the Keystone Classic as their season opener on Friday, January 5th. We will see Brown compete first on Monday, January 15th at the Tennessee Classic. Yale & Cornell will open 2024 on Sunday, January 14th at GW. WCU will kick off their season on Friday, January 12th at UMD. SCSU will first be at Rutgers on Saturday, January 13th. Bridgeport will first be in action on Sunday, January 14th at UNH, and William & Mary start at Clemson on Friday, January 12th.
